eCall

An eCall is an emergency call system built into a vehicle. It can be triggered manually by a passenger or automatically by in-vehicle sensors after a serious accident. The system transmits key information to emergency services, such as the vehicle’s exact location, the time of the incident, and a vehicle identifier. In the European Union, new vehicle models whose type-approval is granted after 31 March 2018 must be equipped with the 112-based eCall system.
